The heavy porcelain dish is trimmed in gold, while the reward at the bottom of the bowl is an adorable transfer print of three small girls playing Blind Man's Bluff while a terrier looks on. The scene, beautifully detailed, is set in a treed meadow on a bright summer day. All the girls wear dresses embellished with lace, ruffles and ribbon sashes tied in big bows at the back. Their facial features - plump, rosy cheeks and rosebud lips - are very clear.
Dating from the latter half of the 1800s, this dish is 7 1/2 inches in diameter and 1 1/2 inches deep. In exceptionally good shape, it has no cracks, chips or crazing, though there is some loss of the gold trim, mostly on the inner and outer rings on the top of the bowl. The transfer picture has two factory flaws and minimal wear.
A lovely piece of Victoriana you will be proud to display!
