This pretty cream coloured dresser box comes to us from the Victorian era and would have held a lady's vanity items or perhaps a gentleman's shaving kit. Today it would make a lovely trinket or jewelry box.

The box is 7 1/4 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide, and 3 inches deep. Made of wood, the box is covered in ivory celluloid decorated with raised relief blooms. The flowers on the top and front are embellished with deep gold accents which complement the ornamental clasp.

Considering this antique is over 100 years old, it is in very nice condition. There is a bit of chipping on one corner (see picture) but otherwise the celluloid is intact, with no lifting or bubbling. Inside, the red silk lining is slightly soiled, with two small areas where the silk has started to shred, in the bottom of the box.

Still perfectly useable, this delicate piece of the past is a collectable treasure.
