1/9th Plate Daguerreotype. Possible Postmortem

This lacquered case and the image are in beautiful condition. Time has caused the silk side to disappear. I question if it is a postmortem because of the gentleman's hands. The image is too small to detect stitches, but often the only portrait some had taken were when they had passed. Too small to detect eye stitches. The dust is from the scanner.
