Rare Weller Pottery Dickensware Male Golfer Vase, c. 1900

We are pleased to offer this exceptional and very rare Weller pottery vase from the Dickensware II line, circa 1900 (Dickensware II was made by Weller Pottery from 1900 to 1905). The vase features a wonderfully detailed male golfer in the foreground, with multiple rows of trees and a wooden fence in the background.

This intricately carved vase from the Dickensware II line was carefully hand etched with a needle (a technique called "sgraffito"), and the design was skillfully hand painted and covered in a rich matte glaze. The colors are magnificent! A great deal of time, care and attention to detail was taken to create this pottery masterpiece.

This is the only Weller Dickensware vase we have ever seen in this form. The corseted vase stands 11.75" tall and measures just over 3" in diameter at the base. It is marked "Weller Dickensware" on bottom, along with the artist's initials "KW" and a small "X" incised in the clay. Other unique details, including the golfer's mustache and the detailed wooden fence in the background, make this vase especially interesting and rare.

The vase is in mint condition, with no chips, cracks, damage or repairs of any kind. It is an outstanding display piece and will make a treasured addition to any antique pottery collection or a perfect gift for the extra special golfer in your life.
