Antique 19th C French NAPOLEON III Large Religious Cross/Crucifix Enamel Cloisonne/Champleve Very ORNATE!

Ornate, colorful and in top condition, this is a fabulous Napoleon III French cross, made of enamel cloisonne/champleve on brass, circa 1860-1880.

The cross was meant to be hung on the wall (has a ring at the back) but could also be held for prayers.

All 4 ends have the famous medieval style very much in vogue in the second part of the 19th Century.

The base color is a teal with motifs in red, blue, green and cream, and a touch of pink.

The red and the green show the glass vitrification in the enamel and are beautifully translucent.

The center is a royal blue cross with the letters IHS, also in the Medieval style.

The cross still has its strong original enamel sheen.

A superb religious artifact which should last a few more centuries!

MEASUREMENTS: Length: 8". Width: 5 1/8".

CONDITION: In excellent condition.

No loss to the enamel motif, and only micro nicks to the metal. The brass edges which are perfectly smooth have been left in their original dark color, but can easily be made shiny. Likewise the central ornate letters reveal the brass and could easily be revived.
