Vintage 30s Chinese EMBROIDERY/Embroidered Lady Purse/Clutch w Birds & Flowers AWESOME!

A 1930s Chinese Export interpretation of the famous Qing Dynasty rank badges. The purse was kept in a box all along and is in remarkable condition.

Lady Purses with authentic rank badges became a hit right after the fall of the dynasty (1911) and to answer the demand, interpretations like this one appeared on the market. These Chinese exports stopped completely with WWII.

The purse folds like a clutch and has a badge embroidered on black cotton on each side. It is lined with teal silk.

The embroidery is done with satin stitch and has the most beautiful, vibrant colors! The part that represents the waves is done in couched gold with a super thin gold thread (a lot of work!) still very shiny today. Everything is of course done by hand.

The purse can be used as a purse or can become a superb display. It will also make a very appreciated gift!

MEASUREMENTS: Length: 10". Width: 7 1/4".

CONDITION: Excellent. Clean and fresh. Some loose gold threads, really minor, towards the bottom.
