An authentic Chinese Civilian rank badge circa 1900, with the most vibrant rainbow-like colors and a very unusual "piqué" satin stitch.

The badge is the Mandarin Duck, the 7th rank in the dynasty.

It was worn at the back of the Mandarin garment.

The bird was applied on top of the background, a small trick when one expected to wear a bird of a higher rank soon!

A cheerful and elegant antique that will make a very decorative framed piece.

MEASUREMENTS: 10 3/4" by 11 1/2 "

CONDITION: The very thin silk backing is gone. Duck seems to be missing one leg. In very good condition.
