A pair of exquisite Chinese Export paintings on rice paper circa 1850. The scenes show the dyeing of silk fabric by 2 young men and 2 young ladies with lovely hair ornaments doing their shopping!

(They wear of course the famous bound feet/lotus shoes, several pairs of which you can currently find in my Rubylane store )

The 2 ladies carry tiered baskets very likely with their lunch in them.

One of them inspects a piece of fabric drying on a fabric stretcher with what seems a critical eye.

The scenes are delightfully naive with traditional rice paper painting facial expressions and fresh, vivid colors.

The frames look original to the pieces.

MEASUREMENTS: Each. Length 7 1/4" Width 5 1/4"

CONDITION: Very good. Rice paper is wobbly as is often the case with these antique paintings. Minor rust staining and paper wear. Colors and details are still extremely vivid.
