Antique 19th Century CHINESE QING Polychrome & Gilt Alabaster Buddha Statue QUAN YIN Gwanyin RARE!

A fairly tall ( 8 3/4") and elegant 19th Century, Qing Dynasty, Guanyin or Quan Yin (circa 1860-1880) with beautiful, vivid colors and elaborate gilt. Guanyin is sitting on the traditional lotus, making a lovely hand gesture, and is holding a small vase.

This is a Chinese Temple statue made of a polished white stone, very likely alabaster, covered with richly detailed gesso, lacquered. and gilt. The base is wood.

The statue has a very soothing presence, with her soft gestures and serene facial expression. The colors are still fresh, and the gilt, done of course with real gold, still strong.

A rare and prestigious piece with a lot of character, interesting and beautiful from any angle!

MEASUREMENTS: Length: 8 1/2" Width: 4 1/2" Depth: 4"

CONDITION: One hand was repaired. Not visible. Some normal and minor gesso loss in a number of places, and loss of lacquer to the nose and the chin. Some darkening of the pink lacquer due to age.

Overall in good to very good condition.
