The delicate hand embroidery also includes Chinese characters, clouds and bats. This exquisite piece has retained some of its original purple color, though with time it has become very light. Still this is a lovely amethyst and a fairly unusual color.
The opening of the case has ornate embroidery traditional to these items. The edges have a contrasted braided trim also typical of Chinese fan cases, while the inside is a fine teal cotton. Both sides are embroidered and nearly identical, except the frame is seen among clouds on one side and holds something in its beak on the other side.
A precious antique that should be kept in a special box, or displayed in a frame to protect its delicate beauty.
MEASUREMENTS: Length: 12". Largest Width: 2 1/2".
