Found in Paris, this is an awesome and very sought after French tin from the Art Deco era, circa 1925, with super fresh colors.
Although we are used today to dayglo colors advertising, the tin was EXTREMELY bold and modern for the time. A complete departure from the Victorian era, so rich with lace and elaborate Old World details.
The tin motif combines realism and a typical Art Deco streamlined expression, in a luscious composition of fruits.
The visual effect is amazing: totally hyper realistic, nearly 3D!
(Cidou was a French brand of candies and chocolates. This must have been a box of hard candies.)
Meant to trigger desire nearly a Century ago, the tin certainly still fulfills this function today!
MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 5 1/4"
CONDITION: Gilding still very visible. Very little loss of paint. In excellent condition for its age.
