A neat antique box in the figural form of a Gentleman's head. The man has a mustache and is wearing a turban with a feather. The box is made from porcelain and the mounts are brass, the bottom is not glazed. His turban acts as a hinged lid and it does close nice and tight. I am not sure of the purpose of the box, it is a bit large for a patch box or snuff yet seems to be similar to that type of vessel. I do think it is European in origin, possibly German or French (Limoges ? ). Overall dimensions are 3" high, 2" x 2 1/2". The figural box is in very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. It would make a neat addition to a figural box collection.
