A nice antique figurine depicting a gentleman holding a book. The man is well modeled with excellent attention to detail and features elaborate hand painted details and many gilt gold highlights, there is even "writing" in the book he is holding. The figurine is not marked but I think he is French or German in origin. Overall dimensions are 13 1/2" high and 4 1/2" in diameter at the base. The figurine has losses to his fingers on both hands but otherwise is fine. He has a lovely decorative quality and would be perfect in a Victorian or Romantic decor.
