A lovely antique sculpture depicting a young boy. The sculpture is hand carved from a solid piece of Alabaster and has a translucent quality and natural veining. The actual color is slightly more creamy than white as it appears below. The artist captured a serene expression on the young boy's face. Overall dimensions are 7 3/4" high and 6 3/4" x 4" at the base, it is very heavy weighing just under 9 1/2 pounds. There are no marks but it could be Italian in origin. The sculpture is in good to fair condition. Alabaster is a natural stone but it is fragile. The young boy has overall wear and scratches to the surface. There are small nicks and chips mainly along the bottom edge and his curly hair on the back of his head, see photos. The sculpture displays well and would be perfect in an antique decor. Well priced at only $175.00.
