Minton Parian Porcelain Sculpture Canova's Dancing Girl

A lovely antique Parian Porcelain figurine or sculpture. The figurine is based on a sculpture by Antonio Canova called "Dancing Girl". Marble versions of this piece are in the National Gallery of Canada and the Hermitage in Leningrad. Dancing Girl is depicted in the book The Parian Phenomenon under Minton. Other companies did produce versions of the sculpture as well. This fine version is BIG at 17" high, 5 7/8" x 4 3/4" at the base. The Dancing Girl is beautifully modeled with excellent attention to detail, especially in the drape of her clothing. She is in very good overall condition. The only thing to note is an in the making clay shrink on the back of one wrist, it does not go all the way through, see photo. The Parian figurine would be lovely in a Classical inspired or period Victorian decor, she is lovely.
