This plate is hand painted on both sides in dark blue color and is probably American. The front is a country scene with a simple crude hand built fence and trees having sparse foliage, a sign that the season is approaching winter. On the reverse is a portrait of a dog sleeping comfortably in his master's easy chair. Around the rim on the reverse side is written in large characters NOVEMBER 1882. This plate has great detail, no two patterns are alike and it reflects such a pleasant ambiance for late fall or winter. The condition is good for it's age. The glaze is still intact and there are no cracks or chips. Under the glaze there is very fine crackling which is normal. The background color is an ivory white and there is some light beige discoloration on the front. The Artist's signature is on the front, on the dog close to his shoulder.
