A collection of the original reproduction prints of the world's greatest Old Master's oil paintings issued by the U.S. Government Art
Committee that was headed by Eleanor Roosevelt. This comes in the original 11" by 14" paper portfolio and includes a certificate of authenticity signed and dated by Sharon Hernandez of Sharon's Antiques in Tarzana, California dated November 1974. Thirty four years ago these were valued at $7.00 each.
There are fourteen prints left in this portfolio which originally had thirty six.
Inside the portfolio cover there is a copy of each artwork from the collection along with it's identification and a brief biography about the Artist. There is also a background story about how these works were reproduced and what happened to them. To summarize, the motivation for making them was to lift the spirits of the people after the great depression ended. Over $1,000,000 was spent, alot of money then, and 3,000,000 prints were made. Then mysteriously, the project was abandoned and the whole collection was stored in a warehouse for over 25 years. These are from that original collection.
