Superb Antique Micromosaic Paperweight Pliny's Doves

Antique Italian, black slate / marble paperweight inlaid with a wonderful very finely worked micromosaic depicting Pliny's or the Capitoline Doves.

A wonderful quality example - very decorative, usable and highly collectable!

CONDITION: All original and generally very good. Slightest signs of wear commensurate with age and use. Some small chips to the edge of the marble, see pics. Mosaic perfect.

DEFECTS: None.

DATE/MARKS: 19th century. Not marked.

DIMENSIONS: 6 ¼ x 5 inches (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.

WEIGHT: Approx. 999.1 grams.
