Fine Antique Porcelain: French, German, English, European & Hand Painted
Beautiful gold and fabulous blank. Before I picked this up I thought it was french Old Paris in Style. The backmark, impressed CF actually belongs to the Pirkenhammer Manufacturing Studios, German origin. (Actually old Bohemia). As I researched this company it was noted that their workers actually visited Sevres to learn techniques. Definitely this has French influence.
The scene is of a couple sitting in the country, near a stream. The young lady has a fishing pole in the stream and the young man is playing the flute. There is a small picnic basket near the man. The backdrop has a fence and some trees..
The vase is appx. 6" Tall. The opening at the top is appx. 5" lengthwise. The gold is in super condition, so unusual for the age of the piece. On the back are two long gold lines for decoration. The only flaw, manufacturing caused, is a slight separation, seen from the back under the bend of the flower area from the vase. It does not affect the integrity or appearance of the vase.
Pirkenhammer Co, ca 1847-1853. Amazing condition for 150 years old.
