Fine Antique Porcelain: French, German, English, European & Hand Painted
A lovely piece of pottery with gracious hand painted orchids. This piece would be called a Ferner or a Cache Pot.
Lovely orchids on a misty moss green background. The orchids are painted beautifully and realistically. The piece is supported by 3 gold ball feet. Double bands of gold above and below the painting. Between the gold bands is an embossed pattern of squares. The pot stands 5 1/2"H by 5"D.
Condition: There are no chips or cracks but there is medium crazing as you can see in the close ups. This is common for this type of pottery with this age. The pot was probably used for a ferner as the interior the crazing is darkened.
Note the reference to Albany and Harvey in the backmark , which were two of the pottery factories operated by Gibson, Stoke on Trent.
It is a lovely, peaceful and serene piece of pottery.
