The successful marriage of glass and gold requires a unique touch that few artisans have ever been successful at, and then there was Sabino who combined the artistry in form to the beauty of delicate glass. This beautiful marriage of gold and glass is reflected in classic pieces, by Sabino. The subtle translucence complemented by the highlights of gold make this a true treasure for a collector of elegant glassware. Some references date the signature of this piece as pre World War II indicated by the signature Sabino France- which was used for items created for export. Sabino died in 1961 and all signed pieces are pre 1961 in age most are much older than 1961- the original pieces were produced in the 1920's and 30's. The company does not advertise new signed pieces. This is the only Madonna produced with a square base. Measures 4 1/2" by 1 1/4". This piece is signed and has the original Sabino company sticker- Sabino made in France. Many items are signed Sabino Paris which was used for items that were sold in France. New items are stamped not signed.
