This is a great item wish I had the globe on the top. It has a pat. date Jan 21 1890 on the wick regulator. There are no cracks or chips in the bottom and the oil container has no holes. If it had a top you could use it now. The porcelain base is hand painted. The base is cast brass and the oil receptacle is brass as well as all the burner parts. I have done nothing to it - but I am sure that the brass would clean up beautifully.
