Artisan Jewelry : Necklaces : Sterling Silver

 

I started with a gorgeous artisan lampwork vessel. It features a mix of rich black, deep red and gold glitter.

I made the bale and sterling beads with silver clay that I shaped, textured, oxidized and polished.

*Silver clay, or PMC, is made of fine silver particles combined with organic binders, then heated in a kiln until the binders burn off, leaving 99.9% pure fine silver.

The necklace is made with a collection of both glass and black onyx beads that I have been collecting over a period of several years. Some of these beads are vintage. There are some fun unusual shapes here. For a splash of color I added some faceted red coral to the mix.

The pendant is 2 1/2 inch long by one inch wide. The necklace length is twenty one inches and it extends another two inches.
