Luciano Gaspari for Salviati 1950's Black Sommerso Vase

This is one of two Salviati sommerso vases that were found together in the same estate. I believe they are early designs of Luciano Gaspari and date from the early to mid 1950's. This one has the original Salviati & C. label... They are both in my store presently and they are both in very good condition with just the typical base scratches... no chips or cracks, dings etc... This one was flattened very slightly on one side of the rim when it was made, it's hard to notice but I thought it was worth mentioning. I got a pretty good shot in one of the pictures, sorry about the fingerprints...

It has a black amethyst glass sommerso in a light blue body and stands 3 3/4" inches high and is 3 1/2" inches wide.

A great modern form with clean lines and complimentary colors.

I had to increase the exposure to get the amethyst color to show up in the last photo. It looks cranberry colored through the light blue glass.

Later 1960's designs by Gaspari were drawn out and elongated with less color coordination.

An interesting and rare vase.
