Antique Imari Plate 1879-83 Sei Ji Kai Sha Fukagawa Mark

This plate measures 10 1/4" inches and has three chips on the underside of the rim and a little wear on the enamel.

Sei Ji Kai Sha, the Company of Pure Water, used this mark from 1879 to 1883 and according to my research was founded by the Fukagawa, Fukami, Tsuji and Tezuka families.

Japanese Art had a huge influence on the Art Nouveau movement in Europe as well as this in country. This being a nice example. The orchids are used as a logo for the Fukagawa family and look very good with the organic style Art Nouveau pattern. The plate has an lobed shape in the body that is hard to see in the photos but can be traced if you follow the contour shape of the inside of the yellow color block pattern.
