Nice Big Red and Uranium Glass Geode Bowl

This is an early Murano glass geode. It has a few bubbles with ash visible in the top. The furnaces in the forties and fifties were still fired with charcoal and finding ash and bubbles like that is the rule rather than the exception. There is also an impact damage on the side I don't like much but it isn't really that bad. Check the photo. That being said this is a really good geode bowl. The red sommerso combines with the greenish yellow uranium glass matrix to produce various shades of orange. I had some fun taking photos with various lighting effects and will include one of them here... This bowl measures 5 1/4" across and is 2 3/4" inches high and weighs 4 1/2 lbs... There are no other nicks or fleabites than what you see in the photos. Only one of those bubbles I mentioned breaks through the polished surface. Thanks for looking!
