About Us
I have been selling antiques and collectibles to dealers and collectors for over 25 years and have of late directed my attention to the collecting field I love the most. Be it a hot formed glass elephant, duck or geode bowl from the 1950's each piece of Murano glass is a unique work of art. A direct link and testament to the master craftsmanship learned over the course of centuries on the renowned island of glass. Advanced collectors or a novice just starting can have fun exploring the many interesting styles and techniques of glass making that went on in Murano. Old techniques, for example murrine, a slice of a pulled glass cane were used to make beads or embedded in glass (called millefiori) since Roman times, Other newer techniques such as sommerso were meant to satisfy the modernist taste for form, color and optics. Traditional to experimental. Subtle to Flamboyant. This has been one long experiment in glass chemistry. A 3000 year experiment... what fun!
