This incredible antique English Flow Blue plate is circa 1834-1859 and was produced by Podmore, Walker & Co. It is 9.5" in diameter and features a stunningly dense pattern with a heavy floral border around the rim and a beautiful Asian pagoda and tree scene in the center. The color is bright, deep and rich cobalt blue, the most desirable for collectors. Shown in Gaston's Flow Blue China Comprehensive Guide on page 159 with a value of $200.00-225.00.This plate is in very good antique condition. Some age appropriate crazing and faint utensil marks are evident on the front along with three flea bite glaze misses and a scattering of glaze bubbles. Glaze misses are common in pottery this old, as the utensils used to move them to and from the kiln often interrupted the glaze during firing. The glaze misses are positioned in the outer rim between 1 and 2 o'clock, at 5 o clock and at 4 o' clock and correspond to utensil marks on the back. I mention this for the sake of clarity, they in no way detract from the opulent presence of this stunning piece. Any other white marks in the pictures are a function of the camera flash.

A wonderful piece to use as the focal point of a Flow Blue arrangement on a wall, or an elegant eye catcher in a plate stand on a table. This is a very, very special plate!
