In 1896, two enterprising gentlemen decided they would try to find their niche in this crowded field. Gustav Shafer and Gunter Vater opened the company bearing their last names in Thuringia, Germany. Shafer and Vater succeeded because they made the kinds things few other companies would even attempt to make, interesting products of broad popular appeal, and they made them artfully. The company started by making doll heads, but S&V had more adult products in mind — fun items involving sex and liquor. Their line of nudes and bathing beauties was more comical than naughty, especially their line of Porcelain Bisque Bathing Beauties wearing Black Silk Stockings! Look at this Lovely Bathing Beauty lying prone in a Model's pose holding her kitty cat! The fabulous German Detail makes her Face, Body and Kitty exquisite! She has Blond hair, light Brown Brows, Dark Eyes, Peach Cheeks and Ruby Red Lipstick! She is Stunning! Her Siamese Kitty has a White Chest, White in the face, Pink Mouth, Brown Ears , white belly, and the rest is a light brown! She has been kept under glass for many, many years and is in excellent condition but remember that by switching around her position her back has some light spots which I will leave to her new owner to clean! I hate to sell her as she is so Beautiful but times are tough. She measures 7" long x 3" tall! Germany Ca 1920's.
