Hand Carved Angel Skin Coral Necklace with Floral Centerpiece and Rose Clasp

Fresh and beautiful, as if it were created yesterday, but dating to the 1950s, is a magnificent Angel Skin Coral necklace with a large in-line, hand carved floral pendant section and a hand carved rose mounted at the clasp! Length is 20 inches. Angel Skin Coral beads graduate from 6mm to 10mm. The centerpiece measures 2 1/2 inches in width and 1 1/4 inches from top to bottom, with a depth of 10mm! Hand knotted on coral silk, this necklace is absolutely magical! With a rare and delicate hue, it is one of the finest carved Coral necklaces I have had the pleasure to evaluate and acquire. Where the strand of beads joins the centerpiece the silk is encased in Gold Vermilion, a technique you don't see much these days. There is no oxidation or damage to the clasp, but it is not marked so I am not certain of Gold content there. Although the Carved Rose at the clasp seems an incongruity with the carving on the necklace, I expect that this was a custom designed piece and preferences of the original owner were taken into account. The necklace came to me just as you see it and coloration of the Coral is very consistent as is the quality of the carvings. No chips, cracks or breakage is found under very careful inspection. A nice presentation case is included with the necklace! The necklace would be a magnificent wedding gift or special gift for any holiday! As a collectors piece it would be the envy of all!
