This fabulous set inspired by CARTIER prompted Alfred Philippe of TRIFARI to create the "Jewels of Tanjore" pieces. They were written up in Vogue magazine in 1945 and then in 1965 iin Harper's Bazaar and Town & Country. The series may also be referenced in Kelly and Schiffer's "Costume Jewelry-the Great Pretenders on page 21. The exquisite butterfly brooch is about 2 3/8 inches and the earrings are about 1 1/4 inches. This set is in pristine condition and looks as though it has never been worn. A very dazzling and highly collectible set!
