A large Cast Steel GOTHIC STYLE DOOR KNOCKER from the well known Victorian Metal Ware's company of HOLCROFT & SONS, England. The Knocker is 8 3/4" in length and has the makers name and serial number on back. It is in excellent condition for a metal item dating to the late 1800's era. Thomas Holcroft was an engineer, iron and brass founder and millwright at his Bilston foundry. The company was also known as a manufacturer of waterworks pumping engines, mill and forge engines. A stunning Knocker for a large front entrance door. This knocker has been cleaned and lacquered but a final treatment in an an acid bath, or a sand blasting, would really bring it up beautifully.

This is a Georgian Style Door Knocker probably made in the late 1800's or early 1900's I think....it could be original but my thoughts are for the later period. I did note Knockers very much the same as this on Georgian Terrace Houses when in Dublin recently. It is made of bronze and is 8" in length and 1" in width. No makers marks on back. A real little old cutie of a Door Knocker depicting The Master or one of The 'Fellows' (as the Professors / Tutors are called at TRINITY) about to enter the Trinity College Gate at Cambridge University. The knocker was originally nickel plated but age and use has worn much of this down to the original brass...mainly on the actual knocker handle part. Most of these date to around 1900-1915...this does have a makers marking on the back but it is tiny and hard to decipher. Size is 4 1/2" x 2 1/2"

This came off a demolished Victorian Farm House and is a real old beauty...very solid & measuring 8" x 4 1/2". There is a Makers Mark on the back but I just cannot decipher it. I think it is possibly more mid-Victorian era done in the Regency Revival style.

A stunning old tile depicting a Scots Laird or Gentleman fishing for trout in the Scottish Highlands. The tile is a nice large one measuring 12.25 x 6.25 inches and is 7/16" in thickness. There is age crazing typical of a Victorian Period tile and a small crack or repair to the bottom right corner. There are no markings to the base..looks like small remains of a sticker or something there.

I have placed this as Circa 1890-1900 but may well be earlier. A wonderful thing decorated with gargoyles, dragons, and baroque musings.The gentleman with the book I take to be that most famous of English poets ...one William Shakespeare. The bell depicts a Boar (BOS), an Angel (ANGELYS), and a Pelican(PELICANYS). The clanger inside the bell has long since rusted off and a new needs to be fitted...otherwise in marvelous condition. The green look is verdigris and the bronze can be seen showing ...
