Layaway is available for Holiday Gifts!!
Quite an interesting pair of tiles or trivets!! One has on the back "The Chatak Bird". According to Hindi lore, this bird would stare at the sky waiting for the rainwater to drink even though he is surrounded by lakes, rivers, etc.
These tiles have a very :modern" design to them. They are red and black on white tile. The birds face each other on these tiles. One shows the bird with the sun out, the other with rain. The tiles each measure 6" deep x 6" wide x 1/4" tall.
The tiles were made by "Wheeling". They each have cork feet on each corner. They are signed "M.A. McIntyre 1952". The tile that shows the rain is marked "The Chatak Bird".
Nice condition. The rainy tile has a three flea bites along the edges - see pictures. One of the cork feet is missing a piece. There are no cracks or chunks out of either tile. Interesting!!
