Welcome to Milkweed Antiques!!

Strombecker made dollhouse furniture for 30 years. The styles of the dollhouse furniture changed over time as did the decorating styles for Mom's furniture.

This bedroom set was one of the first designs that Strombecker used. There are six pieces to this set. All but the side end table have a stencil on them. The pieces are medium pink enamel with medium blue stencil. Because these pieces were made of wood, the grain, if not sanded enough, would not let the enamel adhere. Sometimes it makes the piece look worn or dirty. This is just how the materials were at that time.

There are two beds. They measure 2-1/4" tall x 2-1/2" wide x 4-5/8" deep. There are paint drips and finger prints on the base of one bed. The vanity measures 4-3/4" tall x 3" wide x 1-1/4" deep. It has a tin mirror that shows some wear. The vanity bench measures 1-1/8" tall x 1-3/8" wide x 7/8" deep. It looks as if the legs were reglued at one time.

The chair has an open back. It measures 2-3/4" tall x 1-1/4" wide x 1-1/4" deep. The pedestal side table is 1-7/8" tall x almost 1-1/4" square at the top with a 3/4" diameter at the base. Looks like the top may have been reglued at one time. There are a couple nicks in the paint on the base.

This set is in nice condition. There are no cracks or breaks. The enamel did not adhere to the non-sanded areas. It makes the piece look worn or dirty in the pictures. Overall very nice for such an early set. The stencils are a nice touch - I believe these are original to the pieces!!
