Royal Bayreuth Tapestry China is so named because of its rough finish similar in texture to needlepoint tapestry. In order to obtain this finish, the object is wrapped in a coarse cloth. It is then baked and the tapestry finish results. The cloth has been consumed during the baking process. This scenic, blue marked, water pitcher depicts a colorful castle in the midst of mountains, complete with a beautiful water fall. The detail is extremely detailed, and the tapestry is as colorful today as when it was created. The handle is heavily gilded and shows some wear.. The rim is also trimmed in gold. The gold is somewhat worn, due to age, inside the rim. The outside rim shows practically no wear at all. The pitcher has no chips, repairs, cracks or crazing.
