18th C Antique French SEVRES Pot de Creme w Cover 1765

It's always a thrill to find anything in this early dinner pattern from Sevres! This piece is a soft paste, covered pot de creme, with a nice flower sprig applied on the lid. The underside of the pot is marked with the blue crossed Ls and the date letter M for 1765, plus at least one artisan's sign, also in blue, and an impressed set of initials, "g m." There is also a hole in the foot rim.

Height with lid c. 3 1/8 in. (8 cms.); Diameter of the lid c. 2 3/8 in. (6.5 cms.)

Any flaws appear to be original to production at the factory. There is a tiny rim chip on the underside of the lid which has been gilded over. Firing flaws include a spot on the front and one inside the cup. Both of these have also been gilded over. I have pointed these out in the accompanying images. There is also a possible missing leaf on the lid. Despite the imperfections so typical of early soft paste porcelain, the ensemble displays beautifully! A rare find for the collector!
