A pretty Mintons plate with a scenic landscape signed by the artist. The scene is a view across a lake or river to a castle and tower at the edge of the water, beneath an alpine mountain. It reminds me of the Château de Chillon on the eastern edge of Lake Geneva, made popular by Lord Byron's poem, "The Prisoner Of Chillon" (1816).

The plate is rimmed with thick green enamel and gilding. The back of the plate bears the Mintons printed mark used from c.1912 - 1950. There are also several impressed marks, including "Mintons." The plate's diameter is 9 inches. A lovely plate for a Minton collector or a fan of Lord Byron, in perfect condition.
