19th C French Gilt Bronze or Brass and Crystal INK WELL Large and Heavy INKWELL

A very heavy and quite large, cut-crystal inkwell, mounted in gilded bronze or brass, decorated, with a very well done, Empire style, laurel wreath on the lid, plus reeds wrapped in ribbons around the neck and base. The crystal base is star-cut and the edge is nicely beveled. The top is fitted with a small removable, interior ink pot, to use in order to keep your ink from drying out, should you prefer not to fill the whole large one. Total weight is 1 lb. 9 ounces or 697 grams! The ensemble comes apart for cleaning. A very nice period example in very good condition. Just rubbing to the gold wash on the lid as shown.
