A beautiful French silver coffee pot with carved wood handle, created by Risler & Carre, a Tetard successor! The pot bears two Minerve I guarantee marks (on the pot and lid) for .950 silver, which is purer than sterling (.925); plus the hallmark of Risler & Carre, who commenced trading in 1899 at 16, rue du Faubourg Saint Honore, Paris. A magnificent teapot from the world-famous House of Odiot of Paris, circa 1894 - 1906. The deep and finely chased decoration dazzles with its rococo elements, borrowed from the period of Louis XV, including acanthus leaves, shells, and various c-scrolls, and is punctuated by a finial of leaves and a Marguerite flower on the lid.
