A very rare Niderviller grand plat (large platter) in petit feu from the Beyerle period! The charger was created circa 1765 - 1770 (rococo period) at Niderviller in Lorraine, in eastern France. A rare and beautiful, six-lobed, faience dinner plate with fleurs chatironnées (contoured flowers) from Strasbourg, France! The great production of "fleurs chatironnées" corresponds to the period of Joseph Hannong, between 1760 and 1775. One of a very rare, matching pair of very early Strasbourg faience plates, Hannong factory, circa 1721-50. This is the smaller size, the 12 inch Plat. Another beauty from my recent trip to France: a stunning example of early "fleurs fines" and the petit feu method! (The term means “fine flowers” and refers to the creation by free-hand painting of complex, realistic floral designs on faience.)
