An incredibly gorgeous Edwardian mabe pearl stickpin c.1910-20, bezel set in sterling silver and marked as such, with a sterling stickpin. Mabe pearls are made when the oyster forms a coating over an irritant on the interior side of its shell, rather than one free floating inside. The blister, or mabe, pearl is cut out of the side of the shell in a round or oval shape; this one is a particularly nice example. The oval pearl in the setting is 5/8” X 3/8” and the stickpin part is 2 5/8” long.

This item had been packed away since the original owner passed away in the 1920’s and appears to have never been worn, so it’s in excellent condition. The sterling’s patina is completely untouched - I prefer to leave that decision of polishing up to the new owner. An antique piece of jewelry with a timeless beauty that’s still in style today!
