Great old Horseshoe shaped very early 1880s or so with interesting goldtone flecking

Very unusual safety clasp on this early designed pin with the pin structure from the mid to late 1800s. The top finish is layered and has the look of thick goldtone flecking. The pin also has a white tipped enamel flower as part of its design. This has not been tested for gold content so I will indicate it as gold tone. The backing looks to be copper and gold tone over but does have some coating wear in the area you see on the back picture and patina on the copper. No dings or dents but an very unusual safety type clasp which I have not seen in any of the thousands of pieces we have handled. Could be possibly of European design! Measurements are 7/8 x 1 and other than finish issues on the back only, this is quite a nice antique pin.
