HISTORY:
Paul Calle's subject mater is primarily Western, heritage - Native American, trappers and mountain men, honoring the unsung heroes, the trailblazers of American's uncharted territories. He presently lives in Stamford, Ct. His primary mediums are oils and pencil for which he earned his title: The Master of the Pencil.
PAUL CALLE, while chairman of the Department of Interior's 'Artist in the Parks' program, he traveled widely throughout the West. "The portrayal of Western Art is not a romantic adventure, but a realistic challenge - a personal commitment to portray America’s past." Paul was also selected as an official artist for the national Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Fine Art Program in which Paul was commissioned to paint Neil Armstrong’s first step on the moon. His image was selected to become a US Postal Stamp. Paul Calle is equally skilled at oil paintings as well as pencil drawings.
PRESENTED TODAY:
This original Lithographic print entitled: "Wood Gatherer of Walpi" is pencil signed and dated Paul CALLE. Walpi is a village in Navajo County, Arizona, north east of Flagstaff. This colorful lithographic print was issued as part of a larger portfolio of Western Art published by Franklin Mint in the mid 70's. This limited edition series featured some of the finest western artists and illustrators of that time. Each artist submitted original print works, signed and dated especially for this special western art series.
Measurement:
The print measures: 30-1/4" x 22-1/4" with a natural linen color mat for protection. One may or may not want to replace the mat or possible double mat due to age and some normal wear. The lithographic print is fine condition.
