Artist Samy Briss was born in Rumania in 1930. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art under Reassu, a disciple of Gustave Moreau. In 1960 he settled in Israel and had is first one man show in Tel Aviv. He is known for his murals of mosaics and reliefs on wood. His work is in museums and private collections in Rumania, France, Israel, England, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Canada and the U.S.A.
Briss is a painter of the magical and marvelous native imagery from his native Molda. His surrealistic artistic style rendered in his work makes him brother to Paul Klee and Victor Brauner. The colors in this piece are that of a rich bisque-fired pottery. Samy paintings are symbolic and deeply rooted in his childhood experience.
