Presenting, KIOWA MATRIARCH, a strong, emotional depiction of a Female Kiowa Matriarch The pale blue color of her robe and linear patterns denote both peacefulness and and strength. Various tribes and colonist used color to signal a state of being, warlike, or other intentions between tribes.Often belts were made using beads of one color which were highly symbolic and a form of visual communication.

Artist, Robert Redbird is well-known for his technical and ability to portray Kiowa life with a spiritual message. He is a member of the Kiowa tribe and the Kiowa Gourd Clan, and a native.

The inspiration for Redbird’s paintings comes from the stories he has heard from his grand parents and the older Kiowa people. His themes include legends, visions and the culture of the Kiowa people. The style of his paintings is contemporary, drawing from his Oklahoma heritage as well as from the influences of the Southwest Indian tribes of Arizona and New Mexico.

As an artist, his name has become recognized world-wide and his work has been displayed in many of the fine galleries in the southwest.
