Fine Victorian Tunbridge Ware rosewood lap desk, c. 1880's. The case is wonderfully grained and intricate inlaid with contrasting geometric patterns, hinged lid opening to leather lined writing slope, interior fitted with pen try, ink holders, and lidded storage, concealed mechanism opening a hidden compartment concealing three drawers, with working key. This is the work shows the craftsmanship of a gifted box-maker.
