Vintage Hat Cocoa Color Satin Pillbox with Veil Gimbel Brothers

This is a fun vintage find that has me a little confused. It is a vintage satin, pleated band pillbox hat sold by Gimbel Brothers. It is nicely done in a neutral cocoa color so it can grace any outfit. Here is the confusing part: It has a large hexagon mesh veil that is attached to the front crown and has a triangular shape, much like a scarf. So, I tried tying it under the chin in which case the veil covers the entire face. Then I tried tying it behind and also covering the face. But, was it intended to tie behind with the veil protecting the hair, not the face? Anyway, the veil is 19"; the brim is 3 1/2", it is 6 1/2" across and 22" in circumference. The label reads Gimbel Brothers. One of the tacks holding the veil is loose, seller will repair upon request.
