Definitely a one of a kind item! This unique drawing shows a US Marine soldier in a pith helmet with the eagle insignia pin on it.

The work is signed J.W. Armitage, and is dated 11-44. Nicely drawn and detailed, depicting a handsome yet rather serious man deep in thought, smoking a pipe. It looks as though the picture was folded - most likely it was drawn while the artist was out in the field, and then folded and tucked away in his gear for a while.

Pencil drawing on paper; measures 12 1/2" x 15 1/2 with frame, drawing itself is 9 x 12 mounted to cardboard"; comes in a wood portrait frame.

CONDITION

VERY GOOD - folds, discoloration, and repair upper left corner. But for it's age and historic circumstance, it is in great shape.
