Goebel - Skiing Snowman Figurine - Made in Germany

The Goebel Pottery has been well known for years and years for its high quality figurines. Most people are familiar with their Hummel Figures - adorable boys and girls realistically portrayed in many situations. Their Monks are also quite well known, but throughout the last century, Goebel has made many varied whimsical and decorative porcelain pieces. This smiling Snowman is a new piece. He's about 3" tall and measures about 3 1/2" from the tip of his carrot nose to the end of his light tan (wooden-looking) skis. He wears a jaunty mint green ski hat topped with a "pom-pom." He has coal black eyes, a broad smile and black buttons on his chubby body. He looks like he's really skiing...leaning forward and holding ski poles. The white surface of his "body" and hat are a bit "puckered" to give the effect of snow and the knitted texture of the hat. He is marked "Goebel" in blue on the bottom of his skis. What an adorable piece to display since winter will soon be upon us.
