This book, a Yankee's Adventures in South Africa is dated 1907 by Rhodes and McClure Publishing company of Chicago. The auther is Charles Simpson. It was first published in 1897 and the illustrations are by H. Delay. It lists 30 full page illustrations. This book is in ok shape for as old as it is. The cover is worn at the corners, and the top and bottom of the spine and much of the silver lettering and design is gone from the front cover. as well as being quite worn on the spine. The first two pages inside of the front cover are loose. There are 234 numbered pages and the book measures 8" by 5 1/2" by 1 1/2" thick. Pages 164 - 168 show a cigarette burn hole. There is some soiling and evidence of bent in pages here and there. The book is much about the diamond trade in South Africa, although there is a love story intertwined in what seems to be fact based fiction. Happy Collecting!!!
